BSW acquires East Yorkshire timber business

Endless portfolio company BSW Group, one of the UK's largest integrated forestry and sawmilling businesses, has announced that it has acquired a £30m-turnover timber business.

Bayram Timber, an East Yorkshire timber processor and manufacturer, was established more than 20 years ago and has become one of the UK's leading suppliers for the caravan, leisure home and garden sectors.

Operating from a 17 acre site in Melton, the company boasts annual sales of £30 million. The acquisition of the business takes the combined turnover of the BSW Group to over £580 million. BSW now plans to undertake a significant investment program in the site with views to increasing capacity and broadening the capabilities of the timber business.

Commenting on the acquisition, Tony Hackney, chief executive at BSW, said: "We are very pleased to be strengthening our position in the value-add timber market by acquiring Bayram.

"The opportunity to enhance our supply chain, and additionally widen our product offering is exciting. This represents another major milestone in the growth of BSW and provides our customers with a more robust and broader range of products."

BSW was founded in 1848 and is based at its headquarters in Earlston, Scotland. It was acquired by Endless in February 2020.

Aidan Robson, partner at Endless, confirmed the purchase of Bayram will help BSW with its ongoing growth strategy. He said in a statement: "This is the third acquisition by BSW in six months and takes the business to over £580m turnover. We look forward to working with Geoff, Chris Husband and the wider Bayram team to further grow the business as part of the BSW family."
