Kettering-based nursery group Kindred Education has acquired three new nurseries, taking its portfolio to 21, with the firm aiming to make 30 acquisitions over the next five years. The three nurseries are located in Cambridgeshire and formerly made up the HRH Nurseries group.
The acquisitions see Kindred add the Girton Nursery in Girton, Roundabout Nursery in St Ives and The Barn Day Nursery in Huntingdon to its existing portfolio of 18 nurseries. The takeovers were supported by a £7.5 million funding package from Santander UK.
Founded in 2015, Kindred Education has grown to around 450 staff across its 21 sites. Alongside its goal to acquire 30 new childcare settings over the next five years, the group is looking to increase its workforce to around 750 staff.
Announcing the latest acquisitions, Kindred’s Chief Executive Ruth Pimentel said: “We are thrilled to welcome HRH nurseries into the Kindred family and to extend our reach into Cambridgeshire. They have already become a valued part of our group given their excellent match with Kindred’s ethos and high expectations of quality.”
Regarding the group’s future growth plans, Pimentel added: “We are now excitedly looking to the future, with many opportunities open for us to grow into a sizeable nursery group over the next few years. This is especially possible with the help and support of Santander UK, whose expertise has proved invaluable to our growth strategy already.
"Santander UK quickly proved invaluable when it came to supporting our growth plans, with its strong expertise in the nursery sector and knowledge of the challenges we would face with acquisitions. The bank's help and guidance are beginning to open many opportunities for us, and we are excited to be growing into a sizeable nursery group with Santander UK right beside us."
Santander UK Relationship Director Andy Casey commented: “We are delighted to be working with the team at Kindred Education, who have built an excellent brand and reputation in the nurseries sector. We look forward to supporting the business to achieve its aspiration to grow rapidly over the next few years.”
