The owners of a Highland landmark hotel have put a ‘for sale’ sign up with a price of £825,000, as they prepare to retire.
The Lochalsh hotel, which over looks the sea to Skye from its waterfront position in Kyle of Lockalsh, has several eager potential buyers already.
“There is lots of scope for this business as we continue to see a boom in the number of tourists visiting this area”, said Jeff Collins, of Inverness-based commercial property valuers Allied Souter and Jaffrey.
“The West Highlands is also among the UK’s most exciting destinations for outdoor pursuits, so there’s lots of potential... to advertise to enthusiasts.”
The 47-bedroom hotel was formerly a lodge owned by Sir Alexander Matheson. When the Highland Railway reached Skye in around 1897, Matheson’s son Sir Kenneth sold the lodge on to the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company.
The hotel, known as the Station Hotel, was still using oil lamps and candles in 1930, allegedly. After undergoing expansion, its name was changed during the 1950s. Today its yearly revenue reaches above £500,000.
A well-established company providing metal finishing services since 1980, they have expanded both the range of products that they offer and the company itself.
The company offers all-encompassing fire and security system solutions, supplying and installing a broad range of systems, backed with ongoing maintenance and servicing contracts.
