Churchill Group, a provider of soft services and facilities management (FM), has been acquired by an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT). The group said that the move to employee ownership will ensure that it “remains true” to its entrepreneurial ethos and core values.
The group said it opted to sell to an EOT due to the benefits that such an ownership structure can offer to employees, the opportunities created for those within the company and the solutions for succession planning that employee ownership can provide.
Churchill Group comprises Churchill Cleaning, Churchill Environment, Amulet, On Verve, Portfolio, Chequers and Radish. The group has a nationwide customer base and delivers services including cleaning, front of house, water hygiene, social housing FM and groundworks, security and catering across all major sectors, with clients including some leading UK organisations.
Following the takeover by the EOT, the group will continue to be managed day-to-day by its existing leadership team, with the group saying its founders will act as a “guiding hand” to support the EOT and provide stability and sustainability for the group.
Churchill Group CEO James Bradley said: “The EOT is a natural transition as it continues our unique culture and retains our values of doing right, seeking better and putting people first. Our colleagues are what makes Churchill’s specialist businesses so successful which is why our founders wanted it to be them who should share in the future success.”
Expanding on why the group opted to move to employee ownership, Bradley said that the firm’s leadership team were “impressed by the benefits becoming an employee-owned business would bring including furthering our sustainable purpose with better impacts for people and the environment.”
