Access specialist Brogan Group has acquired equipment manufacturer Construction Access Systems (CAS). CAS, which was founded in 2010, designs and manufactures the “common tower” system that is used in high-rise construction projects worldwide.
The common tower is a temporary structure that is tied to the main building during construction and is used alongside rack and pinion hoists to provide access to the building that is under construction. The tower significantly reduces the amount of cladding that needs to be left out during construction, as well as providing a central point for vertical access to the building under construction. The system is used by most high-rise access firms, including Brogan Group.
Following the deal, CAS Founding Director Tony Faulkner will take on an international sales role at Brogan Group, in order to further promote the common tower for high rise construction projects and other uses, including loading bays and docks and street gantries.
The deal comes amid Brogan Group’s expansion efforts into new markets in the US and Europe, as the firm seeks to build on its position as a specialist provider of access systems across the UK and Ireland, as well as in Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
Brogan Group Director Wayne Smith commented: “I see demand for the common tower increasing worldwide and by adding a manufacturing capability, we will greatly increase our appeal to new users and for new applications.”
“We believe the CAS system is the best in the world. Being alloy it is lightweight and easy to pre-fabricate floors at ground level before lifting into position, whilst its inherent load bearing capacity has the potential to service in excess of 500m building heights.”
CAS Founding Director Tony Faulkner said: “When we decided to sell CAS we received a great deal of interest from the market including from hoist manufacturers and specialist access providers. Brogan Group emerged early on us a ‘best fit’ to promote our common tower to a wider market in the UK and worldwide.”
