Dorset-based event catering company Beales Gourmet has gone into administration as a “direct result” of the UK’s coronavirus lockdown.
The company, which largely hosted weddings, corporate events and private functions, has appointed Quantuma to act as administrator.
Prior to the coronavirus lockdown, the company had 250 events booked as it was set to enter what is normally the busiest time of the year. Last week its founder, Tony Beales, said that events worth £200,000 had been postponed or cancelled and that he was exploring launching a delivery service.
Aside from directors Tony and Molly Beales, the company employs 14 permanent staff, who have now been furloughed, and 6 regular casual staff.
Quantuma’s David Meany said: “We are exploring the possibility of securing buyers for the internal and external event sections of the business in an effort to maximise the return for clients and creditors, secure employment and potentially provide continuity for some of the clients who have weddings and other events booked."
The company’s most recent accounts are to the year ending March 31 2019, they show Beales Gourmet holding net assets of close to £350,000. Its tangible fixed assets at the time included plant and machinery worth close to £300,000.
