York-based veterinary group VetPartners has continued its M&A-led international expansion with the acquisition of three practices in Ireland. The acquisitions of Wicklow-based Avondale Veterinary Hospital, Monaghan-based All Creatures Veterinary Group and Cork-based Riverview Veterinary Group double VetPartners’ practices in Ireland to six.
Riverview is a mixed practice with 52 team members and comprising clinics in Ballincollig, Kinsale, Carrigaline, Bandon and Clonakilty. Avondale, also a mixed practice, employs 31 staff at clinics in Arklow, Rathdrum and Tinahely. All Creatures, meanwhile, is a small animal practice, employing 34 staff at four sites across Monaghan.
Gavin McCoubrey, VetPartners Ireland Managing Director, commented: "We are so proud that these three amazing practices have chosen to join us because they are so respected in Ireland. They are a great cultural fit for VetPartners and they share our values in the way they support and care for people.”
"They have really bought into VetPartners as a family of practices that wants to support them to deliver the best possible care for their patients and a great service for their clients, as well as being a great place to work. Practice life is very special and we really value the people that make them so.”
"Our growth in Ireland is exciting and I believe the addition of Riverview, Avondale and All Creatures show how highly regarded we are and how much people trust in what we are building."
Shaun O’Shea, a partner at commercial law firm Beauchamps, who advised VetPartners on its three latest acquisitions, commented: "We were delighted to work with VetPartners on these three latest acquisitions, and are proud to support such a dynamic business and brand on their continued growth and expansion in Ireland."
Since it was founded in 2015 with three practices, VetPartners has grown rapidly to now cover more than 700 sites, with 11,000 employees. The company has taken advantage of widespread fragmentation in the veterinary sector, which has helped drive huge M&A activity and consolidation throughout the UK and Europe in recent years. VetPartners initially expanded into Europe in 2019 and now operates across France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the Channel Islands.
